Monday & Tuesday

Note-No spelling this week or next due to State Fair Research.

State Fair Research-Yesterday, we introduced the State Fair project to all of the students in Blue 2. It's a big project but the good news for you is that most of it will be completed in school. Currently, the students are working on gathering information about their states. Mrs. Antonuzzio, our librarian, showed them how to use the research books in the library today. The students will also have the opportunity to spend some time in our computer lab and we have a cart of books in our classrooms as well. The packet is due March 24. If the students make good use of their work time, they shouldn't need to do any of it at home. Now... we do understand that Blue 2 has its fair share of "over" achievers who are going to want to work on it at home as well. That's OK but just keep in mind that it isn't due until March 24. The due dates for the poster and sense box will be announced soon but they will not occur until some time into mid-late April.

Other dates-March 19-
*Permission slip for the Dane County Humane Society due
*Poetry project signature due.

March 24-Poetry project packet and oral presentation due.

We're aware that March 24 seems to be the magical due date for everything. We considered this but felt confident in assigning that date for 2 bigger projects since we're giving the students an ample amount of class time to comeplete these.

March 26-before break-We'll be watching the video "Hatchet" in our classrooms. This book is one that we've read aloud to the students in class and it goes with our survival genre. We'll provide the popcorn and it's ok for the students to bring a beverage that day. Let's stay away from caffeine if possible.

Today your child received some information about the upcoming science fair. At this point, I just want your child thinking about what he/she may want to do for the science fair. It's not yet necessary to begin on the science project. The information that your child needs (and you need too) will be coming home the first week of February. All I need to know for now is who needs to order a display board. Please read the note your child received today and send in a check made out to Oregon Schools for $3.00 if you want me to order a board for your child. I can't wait for this event. It's tons of fun.
